<$title$> Hiya [fullname,fallback=Reader] and welcome to 2009!
I have met Dream Builders and Dream Stealers, and some people who have no dreams. By far the most interesting people are those who have a dream for themselves that pulls them forward. Without dreams we can be dragged down into the noise of the day, and think that's all there is to this grand play called Life. When I meet someone with few or no dreams, I see someone in Groundhog Day, stuck with the sameness of reacting and problem solving and dealing with what the day brings them.
When I meet someone who builds dreams for themselves, I meet someone who is energised, focused and disciplined. They know where they're going so there is a sense of purpose to them that is attractive. They are proactive instead of reactive, and because they invest time and focus on what they care about, they feel good about themselves.
Dream Stealers are the people in your life who have forgotten how to dream, and in doing so have become addicted to comfort and sameness. Anyone striving outside of a comfort zone is a target: "Are you sure you should be doing that?" What if it doesn't work out?" They are forgetting how to create something magical, and perceive only risk in attempting to do so.
Dream Builders are the people in your life who remember how to dream, and get a kick out of others striving for the best version of themselves they want to be. Dream Builders are fun, because they won't discourage you having a go. They get that the action of endeavor is often more important than achieving the dream. The journey shapes you, and they like to see you happy as you create who you want to be.
Choose to be a Dream Builder in 2009.
Warmest regards and Happy Dreams,

Sharon Pearson

From one of our AMAZING STUDENTS, Cindy Turner
'I wanted to thank you tons for a fantastic 7 days of NLP. You are an outstanding trainer and this was by far the best training I have ever done. I know that both my personal and professional lives will be better for it having this knowledge of human behavior and the skills to assist in improving it.
Day 8 was filled with much enthusiasm and determination to succeed. I have picked up 2 clients since the course and have several others in the wings. I can’t begin to tell you just how amazing I have found this journey to complete my Diploma in Coaching. Not only has it given me so many new skills to become all that I can be, but it has given me the ability to assist others to achieve their potential too. I am amazed at just how much ‘bigger’ my dreams and plans are as my life takes on a completely different direction than I would have ever planned.
This program has just been an inspiration from the start and I look forward to seeing where it leads to. A very big thank you to you also, for being the ever amazing leader that you are. You are a true inspiration to so many and I am pleased to have had the opportunity to have known you.
Kind regards,'

Q: With New Year approaching and 2009 almost in full swing, I would really love to lose some weight once and for all. I don’t want to look this way anymore. The thing is, this has been a New Years resolution of mine many times before! How can I follow through this time?
- Karen, Kalbarri
A: Whether health is something that you put high on your values list or not, it is impossible to deny that health is a very important factor as, without good health nothing works at its fullest potential. Your health can be impacted by the value that you place on yourself and your image of yourself.
How much you weigh and the way you approach your health can be a direct reflection of your emotional state or your relationship with yourself and your life. Creating good health and maintaining a healthy weight for your height is about much more than just a fad diet. In 2009 create a new lifestyle for yourself, one which incorporates healthy food choices and an amount of exercise which is right for you.
Most of us know how to do this and so it can be interesting to understand why we don’t do this! The reason you put on excess weight in the first place can be very indicative of the strategies that you are unconsciously using to hold onto the weight or resist losing it. This is where it is very helpful to sit down with a cup of herbal tea and really backtrack through your own personal timeline. Write down trends that you have seen throughout your life when it comes to the relationship between your emotional state and your weight. What were your beliefs about yourself at that time? How did you relate to life at that time? What were you scared of or resisting at that time?
Self image is a lot about acceptance, appreciation and choice. When you look in the mirror you don’t see a true reflection of yourself. You see your reflection through your own filters, which can be influenced by your beliefs, your past experiences and your environment. Next time you look in the mirror, focus on removing the filters and seeing ‘into’ yourself. Who are you really?
Choosing to be you is very important. When did you last choose your thighs, choose your stomach and choose your nose? Whatever you resist persists and it is impossible to create change around something that you are resisting because you are focused on how you don’t want it to be rather than how you want it to be. As your body IS the way that it IS right now, there is no point at all resisting it being that way. Because it IS that way! Choose the reality of it. Choose your body being this way right now! From that place of acceptance and self love you will move toward your health and fitness goals easily and effortlessly. That way you can start to love yourself right now, rather than only loving yourself when you look a certain way.
Now let’s get down to the doing! Accountability can be very effective when it comes to exercise. Hire a personal trainer or get together with a friend with similar health and fitness goals and hold each other accountable to your health and fitness commitments. There are so many fun ways to exercise. Why not join a belly dancing or pole dancing class or try some kayaking or play tennis with a friend. A swim in the ocean or a walk along the beach can be amazing for mind, body and spirit and Australia has so many National parks and reserves, which are just beautiful to walk around. When it comes to your diet it is important to create an eating plan which is sustainable and works for you. Try having six small meals a day rather than three large meals to keep your metabolism going. Incorporate lots of fruit and vegies and lean meat. A handful of nuts or yoghurt makes a great snack. Choose low fat dairy products as alternatives to full fat.
Health and fitness can be about losing weight for some and it is important to identify your goals and move toward them. By valuing health and making some lifestyle changes, which are sustainable you can maintain your ideal weight. Your language creates your reality. Use language which focuses on what you do want rather than on what you do not want. Accept compliments and learn to compliment yourself. Make your new years resolution to fall in love with yourself and you will love exercising and spoiling yourself with good food. Have fun!

DREAMS WITH DEADLINES: WHY WE SET GOALS
By Christiane Hille
Life & Leadership Coach, Author & Public Speaker
"In the absence of clearly defined goals, we become strangely loyal to performing daily acts of trivia." Unknown Author
Goals are the end point of a race. The word goal comes from the Old English word gal, which means obstacle and barrier. So the sheer act of setting a goal means that we will encounter obstacles, barriers and hindrances. Yet we have not really been taught to expect them! We tend to perceive them as bad luck, not as inbuilt necessity. This means that we must not only know where we are going, but we must know WHY we're heading there. If we don't, then we'll easily give up, rest, or go someplace else.
There are goals that stay dreams forever. I call them the One-Day Goals: one day I'm going to move into the country. One day I'm going to live in my dream home. One day I'll write that book. One day I'll...
These One-Day Goals are the songs of our soul. But because life has mocked these songs, because the applause has not been rapturous but ridiculous, because we were not taught to expect obstacles, some of us gave up. Some of us did not perceive the failure as feedback to try something else, but as an immovable mountain.
This belief made the songs of the soul move further and further into the distance until they became smaller and smaller and smaller; taking with them some of our self-esteem and self-respect. And each perceived failure the benchmark became lower, too. Each perceived failure strengthened the negative voices: Perhaps I'm not meant to be successful. It's not that important anyway. I must be kidding myself.
"The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don't define them, or ever seriously consider them as believable or achievable." Denis Watley
"Our plans miscarry because they have no aim. When a man does not know what harbor he is making for, no wind is the right wind." Seneca
The first step towards the achievement of your goals is to find a Compelling Reason Why. For what purpose are you striving towards this dream? What will the achievement of this goal give you: emotionally, physically, financially, spiritually? Who will you become when the goal is achieved? What will it cost you if you don't achieve your goals? What price will you pay if you never move beyond where you are now?
It is the clarity of the vision that will give you the fuel for the journey ahead.
"Man is a goal seeking animal. His life only has meaning if he is reaching out and striving for his goals." Aristotle
"If you're bored with life, if you don't get up every morning with a burning desire to do things, then you don't have
enough goals."

Coaching Corner with Lisa Wiking:
As a coach, goal setting is essential in any coaching relationship. I remember when I first began my coaching journey. During a mentoring session with Sharon Pearson, she asked me to coach her, to help me improve. As I began asking her questions about where she is at now, and how she experiences her reality, she stopped me pretty fast. She said to me, “How can you coach me, if you don’t know where I want to go. If you don’t know the desired end result, then how can you help me close the gap?” This was such a revelation for me as I found myself floundering, not knowing how to have a purposeful conversation with my clients. Now knowing that I needed to discover from my clients, what they ‘actually desired’ meant that I had a goal or a target to work towards. Upon realizing this, and implementing it, my coaching went from strength to strength. This is the same in our own lives – if you have a goal or a target to work towards, regardless of how big it seems, means that you know what actions will help you achieve what you want and what actions move you away from what you want. The rest is just a process!
From One of our Amazing Students, Anne Asha
'I started my Diploma Program only 10 months ago. I set the goal that I would attract multi-national clients and that’s the meetings I’m having – my first client is a multi-national and we have an agreement to supply $40,000 worth of coaching.
The skills I acquired in the Diploma Program I have applied in every possible way. I study Sharon’s language through her CD’s and DVD’s – before every meeting I watch her on DVD – study the language, her body language, how she puts her point across, and also how she challenges the client – with that I go for my meetings. I use the NLP skills, Trainer’s Training and Executive Coaching Program. Metaprograms, hierarchy, all of it. It’s all there.
Anyone can do this if they trust themselves and use what they learn.'
