Testimonials

"Dear Sharon, Joe, Connie & TCI Support Team,

A heartfelt “thank you” for a truly transformational 7 days! TCI’s NLP Practitioner training quite literally turned my life around. No doubt about it.

I’ve been pain-free since I completed the course. That’s following 18 years of ‘doing’ fibromyalgia. I even cured myself of restless leg syndrome. If faced with a health ‘challenge’, I just ask myself “how am I doing this?” and presto it’s gone.

Controlling my ‘state’, I discovered, isn’t limited to health. The weekend following our NLP training, I put in an awesome paddle at the Corporate Games - Outrigger Canoeing held at Docklands.

Thanks to the TCI team, I’m living purposefully and with passion, creating the world I really want. My map of the world has changed irrevocably.

Now to pass that gift along...

In light & love,"

"Coaching is a journey of passion, integrity, inspiration and dedication just to name a few. These values are extremely important to The Coaching Institute, its founder Sharon Pearson and her team who deliver nothing less than the values which they teach. John and I are both students with TCI and would not hesitate in recommending their training programs to anyone who is passionate about inspiring people through coaching to reach their full potential. “I have 18 paying clients, my own coaching offices and I’m absolutely delighted with everything I experienced at The Coaching Institute. They have supported me, offered guidance at every step and delivered far more than I expected. Thank you TCI!”

<$title$>Dear [fullname,fallback=Reader],

Six weeks ago I accepted the amazing opportunity of being the ‘National Operations Manager’ for The Coaching Institute. Over the past 6 weeks I’ve reflected on all of the decisions I had made throughout my career to get me to this point. The beginning of my career saw me as an employee of a major Travel Agency. The first 2 years of this experience was unrewarded both emotionally and financially. The only thing that kept me there was the advice my father gave me. ‘Don’t give up on a bad day, if your still unhappy on a good day, then you can quit, until then stick at it.’ So I stuck at it. When I was having a good day, I loved it, it was just the other 9 out of 10 days where my boss was nasty, critical or completely ignoring me, that made it so unpleasant. It is as a result of this advice I stayed, and went on to be very successful. The story continues with many twists and turns.

I learned that even in the moment where it feels like it can’t get any harder, ask yourself this question – “Do I love it or enjoy it on a good day?” If the answer is yes, then hang in there, nothing ever stays the same for long!

Lisa Wiking
National Operations Manager

Well done April Intake Weekend!

The April Intake went off with a bang, we had an amazing group of people join our program. The quality of questions and interaction from this group has blown us away, our students are constantly surprising and delighting us with the depth of understanding that they bring to The Coaching Institute. This is one of the most valuable ingredients, which makes The Coaching Institute such a rich and warm experience for all who come into contact.

'This was the most amazing journey.  I discovered so much more about myself than I ever expected.  I walk away from this weekend feeling like a ‘real coach’.  Thank you so much'

'I had enrolled in faith – as I really had no experience with what The Coaching Institute actually offered in an experiential way.  The weekend was fantastic, it exceeded any expectations I may have had and created a confidence in me that I had chosen well and that I would be able to continue with my goals and plans for who I want to be.'

Anthony Robbins’ 6 Core Needs: Understanding why we do what we do!!

Sometimes as a coach we need to share insights with our clients about what drives them – the question – why do we do what we do – is often in our minds. The following are the 6 core needs Tony Robbins designed to help us understand what motivates us to do what we do.

  1. Its important to be comfortable and safe so we can just be, and that’s why we must always experience some level of CERTAINTY,
  2. We also need change and surprises to be stimulated and mighty, so we also need a great sense of VARIETY,
  3. To feel important, unique and special for instance, is why we will do all we can to experience SIGNIFICANCE
  4. And at the same time we must feel CONNECTED, no wonder sometimes, we feel a little disjointed?
  5. GROWTH is another need that we absolutely must meet, in order to begin to feel happy & complete,
  6. Our final need is that of CONTRIBUTION, and that completes the recipe for the ‘happiness solution’

The amount of each of these core needs we invest in will shape our choices and actions. Someone who wants lots of certainty and control for example, is going to make different decisions to someone who enjoys and values variety. What types of job choices would they be attracted to? Who would they want to spend time with? How would they communicate?

Someone who values and needs lots of significance will make vastly different decisions to someone who values connection and love.

We all want these needs fulfilled in everything we do – it’s how we meet these needs that can shape our lives. Connection can be achieved through smoking – we connect with ourselves and with other smokers. Connection can also be met through friendships, reading, deep breathing, exercise… how we meet this need will absolutely shape the quality of our life.

The final two needs determine our level of happiness – growth and contribution is where we truly come to know what we are capable of, and gives us a sense of fulfillment. The less we grow and contribute, the less happy we will feel. The more we grow and contribute, the happier we feel.

You coach someone who needs tones of certainty and avoids growing and contributing. What quality of life do they have? What choices do they make? How do they communicate? What do they notice?

By asking these questions we can assist our clients to experience a fuller and richer life. Enjoy!

Seven Steps to Success by Sharon Pearson

Focus on what you want – If there is a tree in a paddock when a car drives off the road – yes, you guessed it – the car usually hits the tree. Why? Because what we focus on is what we get, to the exclusion of everything else.

Your results are directly linked to what you are choosing to notice in your life right now. If you focus on lack, then you will experience more lack. Focus on abundance and plenty, and that is what you will experience.

The same is true in relationships. If you focus on what you don’t like about someone, you will experience a less enhanced relationship with them than if you focus on their positive attributes.

If you want to create more abundance in finances, then focus on ways to create wealth, rather than all the ways you can’t.

Focus on your strengths – so many people say they want success and then focus on all the ways they won’t be able to make it happen. They focus on their lack of confidence, their confusion and their overwhelm.

Successful people focus on what they are good at and even exaggerate their strengths to themselves! If they display some skill in an area, they generalise that to mean they will be great the next time the do the same thing.

Focus on your strengths, even though it’s tempting to do the old pattern of reminding yourself of your weaknesses. Your confidence will increase, and therefore the possibility of getting the outcome you want.

Notice the results you’re getting – are you getting the results you want? Are your choices heading you in the direction you want to go? The sensory acuity (awareness) to notice day-by-day progress – or not! – is one of the keys to your success.

How many people do you know who do the same thing day after day, even though it seems to make them miserable and doesn’t get them closer their goals? Whenever we run workshops we hear stories of people wanting to lose weight, yet each day they make choices that will move them away from their desired outcomes.

We hear the same story from people wanting to enhance their careers, their finances and their relationships.

Develop behavioural flexibility – once you have noticed whether or not you are getting the results you want, develop the flexibility to change your approach if what you’re doing isn’t working, or isn’t working fast enough.

Many people stay locked into one behavioural choice because they don’t know how to do it differently. To find out how to change, learn from someone who is already getting the results you want in that area.

Model excellence – “modelling” is the ability to learn from others what they did, how they did it, what they believed about doing it and what they valued about doing it. This technique comes from Neuro-linguistic Programming, and is the foundation stone of all generative change.

To model someone, find out how they did what they did – ask questions such as:

  • How did you do that?
  • What was the first thing you did?
  • And then?
  • Did you have a picture in your mind when you did this? If so, what did you see?
  • Did you tell yourself something as you did this? If so, what was that?
  • What tone did you use when you told yourself that?
  • What do you focus on?
  • For how long?
  • What do you believe will happen? (for each stage of the activity)
  • What are your values about this activity? How important to you is it? How do you prioritise it? How do you know its importance?

Then do what they do!

Persist – many people give up on their goal because of a setback. Setbacks are an inevitable part of the achievement of any goal. A great way to look at it is that all setbacks are the building blocks for you becoming the person you need to be to achieve the success you want.

Acknowledge your efforts – many people don’t even question the fact that their self-talk is negative. If you were your best friend, would you ever say to you: “You’re not good enough! That was hopeless! You never get anything right!”

If you were your best friend, you would encourage you, cheer you on and notice everything you did right. You have up to 90,000 thoughts every single day. Your thoughts create your focus, which create your reality.

If you’re not getting the results you want, change your focus. To change your focus, change what you tell yourself. Try this exercise. Say to yourself, using a harsh tone, “I’m wonderful.”

Now say the same thing using a sexy tone. (Yes, really)

Now say it using a kind, playful tone.

What do you notice?

How you communicate with you every day is determining your results. So acknowledge yourself, with a playful, kind and even sexy voice, for your efforts!
