Testimonials

"Dear Sharon, Joe, Connie & TCI Support Team,

A heartfelt “thank you” for a truly transformational 7 days! TCI’s NLP Practitioner training quite literally turned my life around. No doubt about it.

I’ve been pain-free since I completed the course. That’s following 18 years of ‘doing’ fibromyalgia. I even cured myself of restless leg syndrome. If faced with a health ‘challenge’, I just ask myself “how am I doing this?” and presto it’s gone.

Controlling my ‘state’, I discovered, isn’t limited to health. The weekend following our NLP training, I put in an awesome paddle at the Corporate Games - Outrigger Canoeing held at Docklands.

Thanks to the TCI team, I’m living purposefully and with passion, creating the world I really want. My map of the world has changed irrevocably.

Now to pass that gift along...

In light & love,"

"Coaching is a journey of passion, integrity, inspiration and dedication just to name a few. These values are extremely important to The Coaching Institute, its founder Sharon Pearson and her team who deliver nothing less than the values which they teach. John and I are both students with TCI and would not hesitate in recommending their training programs to anyone who is passionate about inspiring people through coaching to reach their full potential. “I have 18 paying clients, my own coaching offices and I’m absolutely delighted with everything I experienced at The Coaching Institute. They have supported me, offered guidance at every step and delivered far more than I expected. Thank you TCI!”

<$title$>Hello Reader,

We’ve just completed another successful Intake Weekend for new Coaches – they were amazing – and what I loved was their passion to be their personal best.

Each Coach played at 100% - and supported each other as they learned new skills and unlearned some stuff that they no longer needed.

Going forward they are going to need courage, determination, passion, support, self-belief and the willingness to ask themselves – “How can I make this even better?”

Success isn’t luck – but isn’t it funny how the successful seem to have more luck? Success in any area of our lives comes about because we are willing to do what it takes.

Are you?

Warmest regards,

Sharon

Coaching Corner: Seven Steps to Success

1. Focus on what you want – If there is a tree in a paddock when a car drives off the road – yes, you guessed it – the car usually hits the tree. Why? Because what we focus on is what we get, to the exclusion of everything else.

Your results are directly linked to what you are choosing to notice in your life right now. If you focus on lack, then you will experience more lack. Focus on abundance and plenty, and that is what you will experience.

The same is true in relationships. If you focus on what you don’t like about someone, you will experience a less enhanced relationship with them than if you focus on their positive attributes.

If you want to create more abundance in finances, then focus on ways to create wealth, rather than all the ways you can’t.

2. Focus on your strengths – so many people say they want success and then focus on all the ways they won’t be able to make it happen. They focus on their lack of confidence, their confusion and their overwhelm.

Successful people focus on what they are good at and even exaggerate their strengths to themselves! If they display some skill in an area, they generalise that to mean they will be great the next time the do the same thing.

Focus on your strengths, even though it’s tempting to do the old pattern of reminding yourself of your weaknesses. Your confidence will increase, and therefore the possibility of getting the outcome you want.

3. Notice the results you’re getting – are you getting the results you want? Are your choices heading you in the direction you want to go? The sensory acuity (awareness) to notice day-by-day progress – or not! – is one of the keys to your success.

How many people do you know who do the same thing day after day, even though it seems to make them miserable and doesn’t get them closer their goals? Whenever we run workshops we hear stories of people wanting to lose weight, yet each day they make choices that will move them away from their desired outcomes.

We hear the same story from people wanting to enhance their careers, their finances and their relationships.

4. Develop behavioural flexibility – once you have noticed whether or not you are getting the results you want, develop the flexibility to change your approach if what you’re doing isn’t working, or isn’t working fast enough.

Many people stay locked into one behavioural choice because they don’t know how to do it differently. To find out how to change, learn from someone who is already getting the results you want in that area.

5. Model excellence – “modelling” is the ability to learn from others what they did, how they did it, what they believed about doing it and what they valued about doing it. This technique comes from Neurolinguistic Programming, and is the foundation stone of all generative change.

To model someone, find out how they did what they did – ask questions such as:

How did you do that?
What was the first thing you did?
And then?
Did you have a picture in your mind when you did this? If so, what did you see?
Did you tell yourself something as you did this? If so, what was that?
What tone did you use when you told yourself that?
What do you focus on?
For how long?
What do you believe will happen? (for each stage of the activity)
What are your values about this activity? How important to you is it? How do you prioritise it? How do you know its importance?

Then do what they do!

6. Persist – many people give up on their goal because of a setback. Setbacks are an inevitable part of the achievement of any goal. A great way to look at it is that all setbacks are the building blocks for you becoming the person you need to be to achieve the success you want.

7. Acknowledge your efforts – many people don’t even question the fact that their self-talk is negative. If you were your best friend, would you ever say to you: “You’re not good enough! That was hopeless! You never get anything right!”

If you were your best friend, you would encourage you, cheer you on and notice everything you did right. You have up to 90,000 thoughts every single day. Your thoughts create your focus, which create your reality.

If you’re not getting the results you want, change your focus. To change your focus, change what you tell yourself. Try this exercise. Say to yourself, using a harsh tone, “I’m wonderful.”

Now say the same thing using a sexy tone. (Yes, really)

Now say it using a kind, playful tone.

What do you notice?

How you communicate with you every day is determining your results. So acknowledge yourself, with a playful, kind and even sexy voice, for your efforts!

We take our hat off to...

Where is Your Life Today?

By Sharon Pearson (excerpt from Your Success)

Before we can create change in anything, it is useful to first assess where the desire of our change is. How can we measure the success of our change unless we can measure the before and after?

So let’s focus on identifying the most important areas of your life. These are the areas you will focus on, improve and measure, both in your personal and professional life.

These are the areas that if you were to not transform, the quality of your life would suffer or be compromised. They are the areas of your life that if you were to transform, you would feel levels of success and fulfillment you can only imagine.

For example: What if someone decided to experience closer and more fulfilling relationships with their family and loved ones yet decided to neglect their health? What if through this neglect they became ill and experienced low levels of energy? Could they then give the level of love and connection they want to? Or perhaps they focused only on finances, to the exclusion of their loved ones?

Having areas of desired improvement allows you to identify and focus on the areas of your life that you are committed to improving.

The Wheel of Life

The Wheel of Life has been used throughout time for measuring the quality of our lives. Look at the example below and imagine that each piece of the pie represented an area of your own life. Imagine that each line is a spoke in a wheel, with the centre of the wheel representing 0% satisfaction and fulfillment in that area of your life and the outside represents 100% satisfaction and fulfillment with that area of your life.

If this was your Wheel of Life where would you currently be in each area of your life?

In this example, the person is at 60% of where they want to be in the area of Finances and her Family Life is only at 30%.

Now it’s your turn. Take a few moments to draw a line in each piece of the pie representing where you believe you currently are in that area of your life. When you’ve finished, shade in the areas to get a true sense of the shapes of each section.

And now…

If this was a wheel on a car called LIFE, how well would your car run?

How would it run if you were traveling at 25 kilometres per hour? How would it run if you were traveling at 100 kilometres per hour? What if you wanted to be a high achiever? Would the gaps cause you to stay on the road or would you be heading for the ditch?

If you’re like most people, you’re probably experiencing a certain level of discomfort with the quality of your ride! How valuable would it be  if you could find a way to round off your Wheel of Life so that you experienced balance across the areas that matter most to you?

Imagine putting your energy focus and time into the areas that matter most to you… what would that feel like? How would your life look? What would be different?

This is what coaching is designed to achieve – the focus is on your success, in a way that has meaning and value to you.
